PET INFORMATION
Animals are great to have around, they’re fun to watch as they get up to mischief, most hamsters can break their way out of their cages as can rats.
Owning a pet is a huge responsibility, they cannot tell you when they are ill or what is wrong with them however they do have the ability to show you, knowing your pet and doing much research about the animals you are about to adopt can really help, not everyone knows everything about animals so there are plenty of web sites out there that are willing to help.
All animals without a doubt require water and their proper food/diet they require toys and wood chews so they are not bored.
There are a few good ideas out there for your animal, you just need “the eye”. You can use “the eye” to find things for your animal fun things to do, a cat litter tray can make a cool digging box for your rats, ping pong balls make great toys, treat balls are good for exercise, baskets and boxes make really good beds, Hammocks are really easy to make as are shelves, you can use a used pringles tub for tubes (just cut the end off), Towels make great linings at the bottom of a cage as they can easily be washed, Make sure you get the correct flooring for your animal, Rats & Mice for instance cannot have sawdust or wood shavings that contain pine or ceder as this could result in respiratory problems.
Choose the correct cage for your animal(s) make sure it is big enough and secure, a Jenny rat cage for instance can house up to 4 rats comfortably.
The main thing is for you to enjoy your pet, after all they are fun to have around and don’t forget they are 100% dependant on you, they cannot clean their own cage or get their own food, so before getting a pet, make sure that you can provide them with the time and care that they need.
